Before any large-scale or major renovation begins, the first and most critical step is stripping out and demolishing the building's interior. Many people think a renovation starts with peeling off old wallpaper, but a real overhaul requires clearing the space completely of old, worn-out layers and non-load-bearing structures.
Deconstruct offers a full interior demolition and strip-out service in strict compliance with safety rules, creating a solid basis for your future design or construction project.
What does an interior strip-out involve?
Interior demolition calls for a far more delicate approach than taking down an entire building, because the main load-bearing structures and external walls must be kept intact. The work our team carries out includes:
- Removing non-load-bearing walls and partitions: internal partitions are safely taken down so the space can be re-planned (the open-space concept).
- Removing old finishes: plaster, ceramic tiles, plasterboard and ceiling structures are stripped completely, down to the concrete or brick base.
- Lifting floor coverings: removal of old parquet, laminate, linoleum or heavy concrete screed.
- Dismantling doors, windows and utilities: removal of old timber or uPVC doors and windows, as well as complete decommissioning of outdated wiring, plumbing and heating pipes.
Clean and orderly: organised removal of construction debris
Interior demolition produces a large amount of specific construction waste (concrete rubble, old pipes, timber). The Deconstruct team not only carries out the demolition but also ensures:
- Sorting the waste and packing it into special bags.
- Bringing it down safely from the building (including from upper floors).
- Taking the construction debris to official landfills with our own vehicles, after which the site is left perfectly clean and ready for the tradespeople to move in.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
How can we be sure a load-bearing wall will not be damaged during demolition?
Before work begins, Deconstruct's engineering team studies the building's architectural plan in detail. Touching load-bearing walls and beams is strictly forbidden – we only take down non-load-bearing partitions.
How long does an apartment or office strip-out take?
Stripping a medium-sized apartment (down to the concrete) and removing the debris takes 3 to 7 working days, depending on the area and the thickness of the materials to be removed.
